The Jurong Region Line (JRL) is Singapore’s first driverless, fully-automated metro line, offering improved accessibility to all commuters, including Jurong condo residents. The JRL will serve as a major transport artery in the western part of Singapore, connecting the Jurong Lake District, Jurong Innovation District, Tuas Port and other key business and residential nodes in the West.
The JRL is designed to run driverless, fully-automated trains, with improved safety and reliability. The trains will be three-car sets and will run at a maximum speed of 80 km/h. This will enable commuters to travel from one end of the line to the other in just 24 minutes. With the introduction of the JRL, transit time from Jurong West to Jurong East will also be reduced from 40 minutes to just 15 minutes.
The JRL will also be accessible to all commuters, including Jurong condo residents. The line will serve over 25 stations, including seven interchanges with the existing MRT network.
